Erika Biesemeier
Erika Biesemeier is an Art Therapist at HELP Women’s Center in Brooklyn, NY. H.W.C provides services for women experiencing homelessness. She is also a painter living and working in Brooklyn. Erika makes oil and watercolor paintings and drawings that are not quite abstractions. She uses gestural, fluid color to describe and understand her inner experiences, past interactions, and the transference of energy that can occur between people. Erika has extensive experience in adolescent and family work and has a deep understanding of trauma and its relation to the body and mind. Erika holds a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design and an MA in Art Therapy from New York University. Her approach is person centered--intuitive and dedicated to creating resilience, strength and self-expression through creative arts therapy. Erika believes in empowering women by providing a safe place to find their voice, share their experience and heal through the act of art making.
